• Award of the honorary title “Honoured Worker of Science of Ukraine” to the Head of Department, Professor V.G. Abakumov in 1992

• Creation of branch of International Scientific and Technical Union of Audio engineers (AES). President – Professor V.G. Abakumov.

• Expansion of research activities led to the creation of Research Institute of Audio and Video technology at the department. This Institute was functioning from 1995 till 2006 (Director – Prof. V.G. Abakumov).

• Development and adoption of standards of Ukraine (in total – 21 standards).

Some of them:

• ISO 2977-95. Industrial Interference. Terms and definitions.

• ISO 3593-97. Compatibility of electromagnetic hardware. Sources of power. Methods of measurement for conductive noise.

• ISO 3639-97. Anti interference filter. General specifications.

• 2 doctors of science and 67 candidates were prepared.

• Teachers and research staff are working fruitfully in the fields of magnetic recording, measurements, applied television and video facilities, power sources, and electromagnetic compatibility. The employees of this group have published over 1,050 scientific papers, 30 monographs, textbooks and manuals, 11 booklets; they have more than 300 inventions, including 8 patents of foreign countries.

• The methods of high-precision magnetic recording systems with high density were designed and develop in our days, design tools for ultrasound transforming systems of motion parameters of controlled objects, power supplies and means of reducing noise are generalized and continue being developed. Equipment design and optimization of systems of receiving and processing of audio-visual information, systems of applied television. Specifications for protective filters registered by State Standard of Ukraine and submitted to the list of devices that are allowed to protect against unauthorized access to information in electrical feed circuits.

• Developments of staff and teachers of the department are used in satellites of the series “Cosmos” and Ukrainian satellite “Sich-1″, navy ships and others.

• Under the guidance of the department 7 all- union scientific-technical conferences «Television methods and tools in science and technology” and 4 all-union conferences “Improvement of magnetic recording systems” were held.

• Developments of the Department were used to create complex of mobile air reconnaissance aeromagnetic data recorder, which helped to significantly accelerate and successfully carry out work on the exploration of oil and gas in Ukraine.

• Employees of the department were awarded five medals of the USSR Exhibition of National Economy Achivements and two medals of Ukrainian.Exhibition of Best Practices.

• Ultrasonic transducers of motion parameters are used in the planes AN-70, AN-124.

• On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of “KPI” by the decision of the academic councils of KPI and the Faculty Professor VG Abakumov was awarded the honorary title “Distinguished Professor of” KPI” and Professor V. Pilinskiy -”Distinguished Lecturer of ” KPI “.
